Vendée beaches
The Vendée has plenty of fine sandy beaches. Let yourself be seduced by the exceptional sunshine on the Côte de Lumière. Ideal for sunbathing, safe swimming or water sports, they offer the perfect setting for relaxation and adventure. Our favorites:
- The great beach of Les Sables d'Olonne, with its 3km of fine sand, is one of the most beautiful in Europe.
- Plage de la Mine, in Jard-sur-mer, between the cliffs of Saint Nicolas and Plage de Ragounite, is a beautiful sandy beach in an unspoilt natural setting, ideal for swimming even at low tide.
- Plage du Veillon, in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, stretches over 1km of sand divided into 2 zones: one reserved for swimming and the other for kite-surfing. At the entrance is a vestige of the D-Day landings and, to the far west, astonishing dinosaur footprints.
Water sports
Les Sables d'Olonne has been awarded the “City of Surfing” label. So grab your gear, head for Plage de Tanchet or Plage du Veillon and join the family in a game to see who can stand up on the board the longest. Water sports are an institution in the region, and there's plenty on offer: boating, jet skiing, kite-surfing... We're partners of the Bourgenay Sailing School. So paddle, waveski, surf or sail in Jard-sur-mer!

On your landing nets!
Do your kids think the ocean at low tide is too boring? Change their minds at little cost (a landing net and a pair of boots) and take them on a fishing expedition. On Ragounite or Paracou beaches, they'll be amazed to discover all the life teeming at the foot of the rocks. You may not have much on your plate in the evening, but your kids will have had an unforgettable day.

Bike rides
Park your car in a corner and get on your bike: nature is so much more beautiful when you immerse yourself in it. Visit the salt marshes, the forests and marvel at the coastline. The region is one of the most attractive in France for cycling. And don't forget the Vélodyssée, which links Brittany to the Basque Coast and runs along the Atlantic coastline!
Take advantage of the educational trails to learn more about the region, or join your children on a treasure hunt.

Hiking trails
Numerous trails of varying difficulty take you from one village to the next for educational walks or long, challenging hikes. Along the coast or in the heart of town, in the marshes or on the Pointe du Payré, vary the pleasures and build up a photo album worthy of a tourist guide.
